Academic/Progress Dismissal Appeal

This form is only for students who are subject to Academic or Progress Dismissal. The submission deadline is Monday June 30, 2025. If your appeal is not submitted by June 30,  you will waive all rights to appeal the dismissal action. To begin the Dismissal Appeal process you must first schedule an appointment with a counselor to discuss your dismissal by one of the following options during regular business hours:  Call (209) 954-5151 ext 6276 or visit the counseling office in-person in DeRicco 234 or visit the counseling webpage online and use the "Chat now" box at the bottom of the page.   Once you have scheduled your appointment please come back to this page to start the submission of your appeal.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO ACKNOWLEDGE: You may appeal your dismissal status if you have additional information that warrants an exception to the dismissal action. It is your responsibility to provide a personal statement that details the grounds for which continued enrollment should be granted and to include supporting documentation for the exception request. You will be asked to upload your written statement and supporting documentation.

    You will remain on dismissal status while the appeal petition is being reviewed and in progress. A decision regarding the appeal will be communicated to your college email within 15 business days of receipt of the appeal petition request.

    Dismissal appeals may be granted under the following circumstances:
    1. If the grades resulting in dismissal are not reflective of the student’s usual academic performance.
    2. If the dismissal occurred as a result of an extenuating circumstance beyond the student’s control that resulted in the causation of the dismissal status (i.e., hospitalization, serious illness, other extenuating circumstances beyond the student’s control). Supporting documentation must be attached to this appeal.
